Think of this as the "starting line" nutrition-wise. Once your RD learns all about you, you'll begin to set the roadmap to help you achieve your goals. You'll even work together to set a few goals to get you closer to your end goals!
Nope! You won't be prescribed any strict rules, guidelines, or plans that don't fit with your lifestyle. Your plan will never be "one size fits all" or require you to follow a strict meal plan or menu. Rather, you'll work with your dietitian to set specific goals that help to improve your eating habits and overall health through making adjustments to what you're already doing, nutrition-wise. In order to feel sustainable, your plan needs to fit into your lifestyle, so you'll work closely with your dietitian to make sure that everything feels realistic, attainable, and satisfying.
Working with your dietitian should never feel like a "one size fits all" plan! Rather than prescribing a strict regimen that feels impossible to follow, you'll work with your dietitian to set goals that are actually realistic. Stacey will take some time to learn about your current nutrition habits, preferences, medical conditions, and what is most important to you. Stacey believes that these nutrition sessions are most valuable when they revolve around you and your needs. This first visit is a little bit longer because Stacey is learning about your “starting line” nutrition-wise. You can always choose to skip any questions that you don’t feel like answering, too. This is your time, and Stacey wants you to feel comfortable. You just need to show up; no "homework" is required beforehand (aside from filling out intake forms). Find a quiet space where you feel comfortable chatting. You can bring a snack or a cup of tea/coffee if you’d like.
